Migration 🆕

Introduction

Demex had an earlier integration with MetaMask ("Legacy Integration").

To offer users a new and improved experience of using MetaMask, Demex released a new integration with MetaMask ("EVM Integration").

Users that connected to Demex with MetaMask before 03/07/2023 will need to migrate to the new integration method.

The enhanced integration will have the following benefits:

  • Users can generate an '0x...' address (typical of EVM accounts) in addition to their 'swth1...' address, allowing users to interact with dApps built using CarbonEVM and providing a more streamlined user experience in the Carbon ecosystem

  • Lower fees: Elimination of one-time activation fee

  • Improved convenience: Connect to Demex on mobile device

  • Enhanced security: Sign transactions directly on MetaMask

  • Native MetaMask support:

    • Ability to add Carbon as a network on MetaMask

    • Send and receive Carbon tokens directly from MetaMask

In summary, with the new integration, users can utilize the same MetaMask setup they already use with other chains.

For ease of reference, we use the following Demex account designations:

  1. Legacy account: This refers to all Demex accounts that were used to connect to Demex before 03/07/2023 and are not compatible with CarbonEVM.

  2. EVM account: This refers to all Demex accounts that are compatible with CarbonEVM.

Users will retain the ability to log into Demex using their Legacy accounts. However, in order to take advantage of the aforementioned benefits, we highly recommend migrating your Demex Legacy account to the EVM account.

Important notes:

  • When connecting, you will be presented with the choice of either continuing to use Demex on the Legacy account or migrating to the EVM account. If you opt to stay on the Legacy account, Demex will continuously prompt you to initiate the migration process.

  • The migration process does not involve the creation of a new account, and your funds will remain secure.

  • The migration has no impact on your staked and LPed tokens, as well as your ability to engage in operations on Demex. You can seamlessly carry out activities such as trading, lending, providing liquidity, and staking, just as you did prior to the migration.

  • The 'swth1...' address and account you utilized prior to the migration will remain unchanged.

Click on the 'Connect' button once you've completed the switch.

Congratulations, you have successfully migrated your account!

Following a successful migration, you can now connect to Demex using MetaMask. The enhanced integration allows you to link your native balance between Carbon Core and Carbon EVM, enabling seamless navigation between the IBC and Ethereum ecosystems.

Note: Once you have funded your account, in order to proceed with your first transaction on Demex, it is necessary to activate your account. Please note that this activation requirement only applies to first-time transactions.
