Trading Fees

Demex uses a maker-taker fee model for determining its trade fees.

There are two types of trading fees on Demex — Maker and Taker fees:

• Maker Fees: Fees charged to users who create orders that are not immediately filled by existing orders on the order book. These users are known as "makers" because they are adding liquidity to the exchange by creating new orders.

• Taker Fees: Fees charged to users who place orders that are immediately filled by existing orders on the order book. These users are known as "takers" because they are taking liquidity from the exchange by executing trades against existing orders.

Fee Structure

At Demex, trading fees are levied as a percentage of the trade's value.

The contract specifications for individual markets are parameters that can be adjusted through on-chain governance on Carbon.

Tier-based Discounts 🆕

By staking SWTH, you can get discounts on your Taker Fees and rebates on your Maker fees.

The trading tier and associated fees for a trade are determined by a user's total staked value, where a larger amount entitles you to greater discounts and lower fees.

The calculation is as follows:

• Every 1 staked SWTH available in your balance counts as 1 staked SWTH

• Every 1 unstaked SWTH available in your balance counts as 0.5 staked SWTH

• Every 1 rSWTH available in your balance counts as 0.9 staked SWTH

Only SWTH and rSWTH in your available balance contribute to your total staked value, in addition to staked SWTH.
