# Spot

The following instructions illustrate how to create a new spot market on [Demex](https://app.dem.exchange/).

## **Create a New Spot Market**

**Step 1:** To get to the 'Create Market' feature, go to the [Markets](https://app.dem.exchange/markets) page on Demex and select the 'Create Market' option.

**Step 2:** Select 'Spot' under 'Market Type.

**Step 3**: Choose your Base Token and Quote Token accordingly. The current base and quote token price will be automatically derived from Coingecko.&#x20;

In the cryptocurrency market, token unit prices are quoted as token pairs. The first listed token of a token pair is called the base token and the second token is called the quote token. The token unit quotes indicate how many units of the quote tokens is needed to exchange for one unit of the base token.\
\
For example, in a SWTH/USD pair, SWTH is the base token and USD is the quote token.&#x20;

Ensure that the details are correct, then click on the 'Create' button.

**Step 4**: Spot market successfully created!
